The Nightmare Before Christmas is a great Halloween or Christmas movie. I like the stop motion animation and musical segments, and I'm not a fan of musicals (except for Sweeny Todd and Repo The Genetic Opera.)

Tim Burton was working as an animator for Disney in the 1980's when he wrote a poem called The Nightmare Before Christmas. Burton would come back to this idea from time to time, and he eventually made a deal with Disney in 1990 for a feature film. Disney decided to release The Nightmare Before Christmas under Touchstone because they did not want to promote the film as a movie for children. Tim Burton and Danny Elfman would go on to work together many more times in the future.

The Nightmare Before Christmas grossed $76 million during it's initial theatrical release, and Disney went on to release the film in 3D in annually for three years in 2006, 2007, and 2009. This movie is still popular and goth kids can buy Jack Skellington merchandise at many retailers.
